About Us

Lumina PMHNP Mentorship

Illuminate your purpose. Lead with confidence.

Three clinicians. One gap they refused to leave unfilled.

We built Lumina because we have been exactly where you are — and we spent years on the other side of that gap before we decided to do something about it.

Our story

Built from the inside out.

Lumina PMHNP Mentorship was not built in a boardroom. It was built in the moments between patient charts — in the conversations three PMHNPs kept having with new colleagues, graduate students, and each other about the enormous gap between what graduate training provides and what clinical practice actually requires.

We are board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners who are still actively seeing patients. We manage complex psychiatric caseloads, supervise providers, teach at the graduate level, and navigate the same documentation requirements, legal standards, and clinical decisions that you are navigating right now. We did not build this program from memory. We built it from current practice.

The 90-Day Clinical Confidence Intensive is the program we wish had existed in our first year. Twelve weeks of the clinical content that matters most — delivered live, with three active practitioners in the room every single week.

We have never met a new PMHNP who felt ready for what the first year actually looks like. Not one. Lumina is our answer to that.
Meet the founders

Three board-certified PMHNPs. Still actively in the room.

We are not retired educators. Every week we teach from current clinical practice — because that is the only way to teach what actually matters.

Cinthya Knapper
DNP, PMHNP-BC
Co-Founder · Clinical Director
Crisis & InvoluntaryFull ContinuumClinical ManagerGraduate FacultySUD Care

Clinical Background

Cinthya is a doctorate-prepared, board-certified PMHNP with clinical experience across the full psychiatric continuum — including crisis settings, voluntary and involuntary inpatient care, outpatient practice, and substance use treatment. She currently serves as a clinical psychiatric manager overseeing providers across multiple sites and as graduate faculty teaching pharmacotherapeutics in an APRN program.

What She Brings to Lumina

Cinthya leads Lumina's clinical curriculum with a focus on documentation, complex prescribing, pharmacogenomics, crisis intervention, and the legal frameworks that govern psychiatric practice. Her dual background as an active clinician and clinical educator shapes the way Lumina teaches — not from a textbook, but from the chart note she wrote last Tuesday and the case she managed last week.

Clinical Background

Tisha is a board-certified PMHNP with experience spanning the full psychiatric continuum — crisis settings, voluntary and involuntary inpatient petition, observation units, alternative therapy programs, and outpatient private practice. Her clinical exposure across settings and acuity levels gives her a perspective that few providers have.

What She Brings to Lumina

Tisha leads Lumina's SUD, MAT, and de-escalation content. Her experience across crisis and inpatient settings informs Lumina's approach to high-acuity clinical decision making, involuntary treatment, and the real-world conversations that textbooks never quite capture.

Pediatric ICU/NICU RNCrisis & OutpatientClinical EducatorPMHNP Program Dev

Clinical Background

Laura is a board-certified PMHNP with six-plus years of psychiatric advanced practice experience and eight years before that as a Pediatric ICU and NICU registered nurse. Her clinical foundation in high-acuity pediatric care gives her precision and systems-level thinking that shapes everything she brings to psychiatric practice.

What She Brings to Lumina

Laura leads Lumina's child and adolescent content and the mentorship model that defines how Lumina works with students. Her dual identity as clinician and educator means she thinks constantly about how clinical knowledge is actually transferred — what reaches new providers and what gets lost in translation.

What we believe

Clinical mentorship should be built different.

These are the principles that shape everything Lumina builds and teaches.

01

Taught from current practice

Every lesson is informed by what we are doing clinically right now. Guidelines change. Practice evolves. Lumina stays current because we are still in it.

02

Honest about the hard parts

We teach the documentation that actually protects you, the conversations that are actually difficult, and the decisions that are actually hard.

03

Built for working clinicians

You have a full-time job. Every Lumina resource is built to be used the same week you learn it — not saved for later.

04

Clinical confidence takes time

There is no shortcut to clinical wisdom. But there is a faster path when you have three experienced clinicians willing to share exactly what they have learned.

05

Documentation protects everyone

Your documentation protects your patient, your license, and the integrity of the care you provide. We take it seriously because the consequences of getting it wrong are real.

06

Community is part of the curriculum

The peer network you build in your first year matters as much as clinical knowledge. Lumina cohorts are designed to create relationships that last beyond the 90 days.
